January 8, 2008 Club Minutes by Diane H
President Kevin F called the meeting to order. Thirteen members were
present. New officers for year 2008 are as follows:
President, Andy C
Vice President, Todd
Treasurer, Paul
Secretary, Diane
LAB membership and insurance are due soon. Our finances are running a bit
short right now so if you can pay your dues now it would be much
appreciated. Mike sent out an email with the link to the MABC membership
application. Drop it off along with your dues to Paul at The Bike Shed.
Dues are $10.00 for individuals and $15.00 for families.
Our Super Bowl ride will be Sunday, February 3rd starting at 1:00 p.m.
Our Frigid 50 ride will be March 9th starting at 1:00 p.m. from The Bike
Shed weather permitting. There may be goodies provided after these rides:)
Tuesday night rides will start March 11th leaving from the MONA parking
lot. I believe they will be the same times as last year. Watch your email
for details on the time.
The Grand Fondo ride will not be held this year. We were losing money so it
was decided we will have a club ride with food later on this year. More
info will follow regarding this ride.
The annual mecca to Moab, Utah will be May 12 - 18th. If you are interested
in going, talk to Mike, Todd, or Andrew. This has become an annual MABC
trip. It's usually great weather that time of year and it's awesome
mountain biking as well as road biking.
Todd is checking on companies to do another club jersey this year. If
anyone has input on colors or etc. let him know. The price will be around
$50.00 or so.
Meeting was adjourned by President, Andy.

Super
Here is a message Judge Mike
MABCers---
Nothing like a few weeks on the trainer to make an outdoor ride seem
heavenly. Five club members rode yesterday. Beginning temp 18 degrees and
ended at a balmy 23. Sunny with light wind made it almost comfortable!
Next up on the club calendar is the Frigid Fifty on Sunday, February 25th.
1pm start meeting at the Bike Shed, 1800 2nd Ave.
On television will be the Tour of California. This race starts on Feb 18
and will be broadcast on Versus (cable channel 58).

President Jed Bespalec called the meeting to order. Seventeen members were present. New officers for year 2007 are as follows:
President, Kevin
Vice President, Albert
Treasurer, Paul
Secretary, Diane
Treasurer Paul Talbert gave an update on the Club’s finances. It was decided that dues should be paid annually in January. It was discussed that a postcard may be sent out to members to notify them of this change.
The club will pay for LAB membership and insurance to cover our club riders. Terry Lamb motioned that this is paid and Tom Nickerson second the motion.
If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, check out the new blog site. It was proposed that the old MABC 50 meg site will be closed down and transferred to The Bike Shed’s site when it is completed. Right now the blog site has MABC information posted on it. Mike sent out an email Wednesday morning with the address of the site. It is http://www.mid-americabicycleclub.blogspot.com/
Mike is doing a ride schedule. For February we have a Super Bowl ride on February 4th starting at 1:00 p.m. leaving from MONA parking lot weather permitting. Our Frigid 50 ride will be February 25th starting at 1:00 p.m. starting from The Bike Shed weather permitting.
Tuesday night rides will start March 13th at 6:00 p.m. leaving from MONA parking lot. The time will be moved back to 6:15 p.m. in April. Todd suggested that the weekly mountain bike ride be changed to Thursday nights leaving from Bico’s. Kevin mentioned starting a beginners ride possibly on Monday’s riding on the bike trail. If anyone has ideas for this ride let him know.
The Grand Fondo ride will be Saturday, May 19th. Time has not been determined yet. Same courses as last year-metric century, a 30-mile option and a 15-mile option.
Kevin would like to have a century ride in August. It will be a club ride to Johnson Lake and back and will be on Saturday, August 25th. More to follow on these upcoming rides.
Todd is checking on companies to do another club jersey this year. If anyone has input on colors or etc. let him know.

MABC Blogging Plan
The purpose of this blog is to inform MABC members and Nebraska/Kansas cyclists of events of the club and surrounding cyclists. I will be posting an active calendar of upcoming rides/events, reports of recent activities, meeting minutes and ideas/plans for the club. Trainer Day
Cold and damp day makes me hate my trainer and sit at my computer, dreaming of a new bike and Moab/Fruita.

Andrew looks Happy, but

In 145 days my wife will be done with Nursing School. She told me and Paul is a witness, that I could buy a new bike when she is done. I am debating of buying the tricross expert or getting the tricross frame and using the components from my Allez,
